A Small Blog for Your Customers, a Giant Leap For Your Business!

A Small Blog for your Customers, a Giant Leap for your Business

Hopefully, old Neil would forgive us for taking creative license with his famous quote, but it got your attention, didn't it?

Creating a Blog for your business and updating it periodically will not only promote your business, but it will also drive more traffic to your page and open up new avenues. A blog is a small business owner’s best friend; for a portion of the costs, it will guarantee a much wider reach.

Then the question becomes, what should one post about? Here are some ideas for quality posts:

  • 1) Write for your Target Audience

Your content should be of interest to your customers/consumers. Make it easy to understand and insightful.

  • 2) Make a Content Calendar

Plan your next few weeks of posts ahead of time.

  • 3) Create valuable content

Your content should have intrinsic value. It should teach the audience something new and useful.

  • 4) Update often

There is no formula for how often you should upload. If you do it too frequently, a lot of information gets lost before the audience has had a chance to digest it. If you wait too long, people lose interest. Work out a timetable that works for you, and stick to it.

  • 5) Put your own spin on it

Find a writing style that works for you. Formal, friendly, funny, sarcastic, approachable. and then stick to it. Changing your writing style too often might confuse the audience.

  • 6) Word count

It’s usually best not to write long-winded articles. It’s rare for people to read them unless they’re really well written. Let’s face it; you aren’t Virginia Woolf. Keep them short and simple. Throw in an image or two, because articles with pictures are shared more often.

  • 7) Interaction

End your blog with a question or asking for your readers’ opinions. Interact with your customers on a regular basis.

  • 8) Make your blog shareable

Make sure your blogs have shareable links. The more they are shared, the more people you will reach.

  • 9) Measure your blog's performance

Google Analytics is your friend. Use it. Measure the response to see what’s working and what isn’t and then do it all over again.
